The French capital is the perfect place for shopping. In Paris, as in other big metropolitan areas, every tourist can find big fashion brands but also small neighbourhood boutiques, which meet the expectations of both travellers and Parisians. So, even if this large variety of stores includes are somewhat expensive places, why not treat yourself to the luxury of shopping in the most famous fashion city? After all, Paris is Paris.
Opening hours:
Most of the boutiques are open Mondays to Saturdays, generally until 7 pm or 8 pm. Smaller boutiques are often closed for the lunch break, between 12 am and 3 pm. On Sunday almost all the shops and boutiques are closed, except for the boulangeries.
Fashion:
Even if you haven’t been lucky enough to attending a fashion show, nobody can prevent you from trying on the creations of the most famous fashion designers in the haute-couture boutiques of Rue du Faubourg-Saint-Honoré, Avenue François-Ier or Avenue Montaigne. Moreover, in the Marais area, you can also browse around in the shops of the upcoming young Parisian designers. And, if you still can’t find what you are looking for, you can have a go in the big shopping centres like la Galerie Lafayette or Printemps.
Art and Design:
Private art galleries are concentrated in five areas: the 8th Arrondissement, where the Marais is, la Rue Quincampoix, the Bastille area and Saint-Germain.

Markets:
If you are visiting Paris you can’t miss Paris markets! All over the city you can find markets selling national and international food products, making one’s mouth water and able to fully satisphy even the most sophisticated gourmand. But that’s not all, there are also clothes, flowers, books and flea markets (márches aux puces). Here are some examples:
- Belleville (Bv. De Belleville, in the 20th arrondissement):
In this market you are surrounded by an exotic atmosphere, thanks to the particular products you can find in the various stands. It is held on Tuesday and on Friday.
- Convention (Rue de la Convention, in the 15th arrondissement):
It’s one of the biggest food markets in Paris. It’s held every Tuesday, Thursday and Sunday.
- Marché aux Timbres (between Av. Marigny and Av. Gabriel, in the 8th arrondissement):
Specialized in books, this market is held on Thursday, Saturday and Sunday from 10 am to 7 pm.
- Saint-Ouen/Porte de Clignancourt 18th; (metro station: Porte-de-Clignancourt):
It’s the biggest and most famous market of the city, with stands selling clothes, shoes, CDs and antique. It is held Mondays, Saturdays and Sundays from 7:30 am to 7 pm.
