Eiffel Tower March
Every year all the Paris hikers meet for the 'Randonnée du Rallye Tour Eiffel’, the night race which this year celebrates its 25th anniversary. The meeting point is at the Georges Halle Carpentier, between 3 and 7 p.m. on the 8th of January: athletes, racers and sports lovers can choose among one of the three circuits, with different lengths, on the basis of their physical fitness. The three circuits unwind along the most suggestive and famous spots in Paris: a 14 km circuit unravels along Montparnasse, Les Invalides, Les Champs Elysées, la Place de la Concorde and the Musée d'Orsay, including the Eiffel Tower; a 20 km circuit extends towards Place de la Concorde and arrives to the Notre Dame cathedral; while the third circuit, dedicated to amateurs and 13 km long, includes a stretch on the tram as well!
Charitable Epiphany Motorbike Day
All the Italian bikers are going to meet on the Day of the Epiphany in Milan, in Piazza Duomo, at 8.30 a.m. for the traditional Charitable Epiphany Day, a Motorbike parade which has come to its 43rd edition. The procession is headed by the Befana, the witch who, in the Italian tradition, brings toys and candy to good children on the Day of the Epiphany, and who will in fact be handing out food and gifts to children and poor people during the parade. The event, organized for the first time in 1967 by the Moto Club Ticinese, always starts with the bikers receiving the blessing of the bishop of Milan and, after the Mayor’s speech, covers two different routes, both reaching various retirement homes and aid institutes.
