St. Nicholas Procession

St. Nicholas Procession

The Saint Nicholas procession is the re-enactment that every year on November 14th commemorates the arrival of St. Nicholas in the Netherlands by sea from Madrid. St. Nicholas, the Dutch equivalent to Santa Claus, comes to town on a boat after crossing Berlagebrug, Nieuwe Herengracht and Schippersgracht, and concludes his tour at midday near the Maritime Museum, the Scheepvaartmuseum. From here begins the parade through the streets of the city, ending at Leidseplein around 2:30, where St. Nicholas meets the children.

Bologna Jazz Festival

Bologna Jazz Festival

The Jazz Festival is a tradition for Bologna, and each year brings together 100 artists from jazz music to the Teatro delle Celebrazioni: this year celebrates the first five years of the new course, after sixteen important editions of the '50s, '60s and '70s and the historic first edition held in 1938. This year's event will be held from November 13th to 20th, with an increase in quality and outstanding reputation of the artists, as well as the highest number of concerts and places involved, and is extended to other cities of the region. In addition to five theaters and seven clubs in the city and the Film Library of Bologna, some events will be held at the Galleria Civica di Modena, which will host the “events off”, and at the city of Ferrara.
