New Year’s Eve in Venice
Venice welcomes the new year with a series of concerts and musical events of great prestige. Begin the year 2012 with the notes of the Musici Veneziani, the ensemble of the lagoon city: at the traditional New Year's concert in Venice, which begins on December 31st at 9.30 pm at the Scuola Grande San Teodoro, you can make a toast at the stroke of midnight with a glass which will be served by butlers in historical costumes. Or you can choose to celebrate the New Year with a concert at the Teatro La Fenice in Venice, directed by Diego Matheuz, scheduled for the evenings of 29th and 30th December, on the afternoon of 31st, and the morning of January 1st will be broadcasted live onTV. As usual the concert will close with the chorus "Va pensiero" from Nabucco, and the toast "Libiamo ne' lieti calici" from La Traviata by Verdi.
The by-now famous event of Tangomagia will be back in Amsterdam from December 26th to 30th. Tangomagia is the annual tango festival that each year turns Amsterdam into a major exhibition center for professional dancers or for those who want to learn this South American dance. Tangomagia will take place in several locations throughout the city and will offer many shows and events, but also courses and workshops, complete with orchestras and important teachers of tango.
Great Christmas Pudding Race
Every year at Christmas London hosts the funniest charity event of the world: the Great Christmas Pudding Race. The race will start Saturday December 3 at 11 am in Covent Garden: the racers, dressed in colorful costumes, will have to run a steeplechase while holding a plate with a pudding in one hand. The funds raised will be donated in favour of the cancer research.
