Description
Enchanting 40 sq.mt. one bedroom apartment, located on the fourth (and last) floor of a newly restored building (with no elevator), and offering a gorgeous private roof-top terrace with a lovely panoramic view of Florence. Situated in the Porta San Frediano area, the apartment is one of 3 available in the same building.
Bright and sunny and well decorated in soft blue colours, this attic level apartment offers modern comforts, such as air conditioning, mixed with traditional Florentine flavours, such as its authentic, all over terracotta flooring.
The entrance to the apartment itself leads directly into the living room, a charming room which welcomes guests with a comfortable couch, an antique wooden trunk as TV stand, a round dining table, and a fully equipped kitchen corner. Giving plenty of light is the wide French window looking out onto the small flowered balcony. To the far end of the living room a quaint wrought iron spiral staircase leads up to the roof-top terrace. Here a furnished, 80 sq.mt. terrace offers an incredible panoramic view of Florence and its surrounding hills. Already a treat for the warmer periods of the year, the terrace becomes a must-have for those in Florence on the 24th of June, a day in which the city flaunts its famous pyrotechnic show over the Arno river, in honour of its patron saint, St. John.
Just as delightful, albeit on a smaller scale, is the little balcony, furnished with its wrought iron table and chairs, where one may enjoy morning coffee stepping out of bed. The bedroom itself, in addition to the balcony overlooking the Arno, offers a French bed (1,40 x 1,90), a Nineteenth Century closet, and a charming side table. The bathroom, small yet modern, new, and complete with window, has a shower.
Area
The apartment is located in the part of Florence called Oltrarno (literally: the other side of the Arno), close to the ancient city walls of the Porta San Frediano.
Easy to reach from the main santa Maria Novella train Station and accessible by bus (lines 6-36-37a). The neighborhood is lively, and full of restaurants and cafes. Within walking distance to the apartment, other than the close by historical centre, are a variety of authentic handcraft stores and old artisan boutiques.
Behind the corner is Piazza Cestello, which dates back to 1628 and takes its name from the "Cistercensi" monks, an order founded in 1098 by Father Roberto de Bruges (known as the Cestello Monks), who settled there and founded their chirch and monastery.
Nearby is also Via del Piaggione, an ancient street with a historical name meaning the area in ancient times was sloping towards the Arno River.
Looking out of the window, on this same side of the Arno one can admire the enchanting Piazz
