Gressoney Saint Jean and La Trinitè are the two towns in the valley of Gressoney, an attractive plain at the foot of Monte Rosa in Val d’Aosta. The elegance and majesty of Gressoney even enraptured Queen Margherita of Savoy who, in the late 19th century, decided to build a castle in the area for her summer holidays. The main attractions in this enchanting area include the Savoy Castle, built by Queen Margherita in 1894, and the church of St. John the Baptist, rebuilt at the start of the 18th century.
The valley of Gressoney has something for everyone. For sports lovers there are ski slopes and facilities for all kinds of winter sports, while those looking simply to relax and enjoy the wonderful landscape can go on walks and hikes. In Gressoney you can’t go wrong. The Gressoney Saint Jean skiing resort includes the Weissmatten slope where it is also possible to do cross-country skiing, while The La Trinité skiing resort has an international reputation and is mainly used for climbs of the Monte Rosa chain: it is possible to go heli-skiing here.
