The area

The Salario neighbourhood is a residential area which borders with the beautiful park of Villa Ada, a park which is very popular for joggers and is full of ponds and lakes. The villa, once the private residence of Vittorio Emanuele III, is now the headquarters of the Egyptian Embassy. In the summer, it hosts outdoor concerts that are part of the Festival "Rome meets the World".The neighbourhood borders with the Via Salaria, one of the consular roads built by the ancient Romans: going from Rome to Porto d'Ascoli on the Adriatic Sea. On the north-east of this the neighbourhood, on the corner of via Tagliamento and Via Dora, there is a singular arch linking two apartment buildings: crossing this arch you enter the Coppedè neighbourhood where you will find a mixture of 17 villas and 26 buildings with turrets Tuscan sculptures liberty, Moorish arches, gargoyles Gothic, painted façades and gardens with palm trees, all designed by the Florentine architect Gino Coppedè between 1913 and 1926. For the little ones there is Technotown located in the beautiful park of Villa Torlonia, in a restored medieval villa divided into seven rooms where young visitors can experience seven different experiences.
Nearby there is also the Museum of Contemporary Art of Rome, MACRO.
Just a few steps from Via Nerola, Gran Caffe Vescovio with its production of homemade pastries and ice cream represents the style and quality of this neighbourhood.
